Cultivating Kindness in the Classroom
The hope is for #edukindnessblog to inspire school staff to share and read heartwarming stories of how we each give, receive and perceive kindness while warming up to a delicious cup of tea and crispy slice of toast or whatever your breakfast may be.
2020 to 2021 were some of the most challenging years of my working life, as I know they were for most people.
As a headteacher, I took a leadership approach, which comes from my belief that a leader in school or any walk of life is a servant to their team.
A big part of being a teacher or school leader is supporting our pupils and their personal development.
I wanted to share three types of kindness – spontaneous kindness…corporate, and collective kindness…sacrificial.

When I left university, I felt completely prepared for what was coming.

It’s strange how a random act of kindness from a stranger can instantly alter your mood.
I’m 27 now. I don’t want to go. I love my life. I am happy… I owe that to my loved ones. But the control is out of my hands.
The day after, I almost died. Her name? I hate to admit it, but I can’t remember – I was too ill and drained from the harrowing experiences of the day before.

As we start 2023, I find myself reflecting on all the kindness I have received this last year.
